Four hours at sea, and the rest of the day is still yours
A half day aboard the CALIU is the easiest way to experience Formentera under sail. Four hours of private sailing, 1–2 stops for swimming and snorkelling, a Mediterranean apéritif included, and back to land with the rest of the day still ahead.
Carlos takes the helm and chooses the route depending on the wind and sea conditions of the day. There’s no fixed itinerary — just a plan that bends to the conditions, so you get the best of whatever the sea offers. The sailing zone is confirmed 2–3 days in advance, when the weather forecast allows.
It’s the trip people choose when they want the sea without giving up the rest of the day. Set sail in the morning and have lunch on land. Or sail in the afternoon after the beach. Either way, you get a complete experience in half the time: sailing under wind when it cooperates, swimming in crystal-clear water, paddle surf if you fancy it, and a Mediterranean spread with views you won’t find at any restaurant.

There are two options: morning or afternoon. The route and what’s included is the same. What changes is the rhythm, the light and how it fits into your day.
Morning slot
10:00 → 14:00
Morning in Formentera is another world. The sea is calm, the heat hasn’t kicked in and the coves are practically empty. It’s the best time to go sailing if you’re travelling with children or if you’d rather start the day in the water and keep the afternoon free. Setting sail at 10 with the fresh light, gliding under sail when there’s wind, anchoring in a cove with no one around and having an apéritif on deck while the kids snorkel: that’s a morning Half Day on the CALIU.

The afternoon has a different tempo. You’ve had lunch, the beach is at its best, and all that’s missing is the sea. The heat starts to fade, the water is at that perfect temperature and the afternoon light gives the water a blue you won’t forget. It’s the slot for those who don’t want an early start, who prefer the siesta first and the sea after. Four hours on the CALIU with a slower rhythm: anchor, swim, lie down in the shade with a cold beer, and back to land with plenty of time for dinner.

Boarding
Carlos picks you up by tender at the meeting point, confirmed 2–3 days in advance. In 5 minutes you’re aboard the CALIU.
Sailing
Heading for the day’s zone. If the wind cooperates, we sail under canvas from the start. The journey is part of the experience.
Stop in the water
We drop anchor in a cove. Swim, snorkel, paddle surf. The water at this hour has a temperature and light that stay with you.
Apéritif on deck
Olives, Mediterranean preserves, beer, wine, soft drinks. Brought out when the group feels like it — no set time.
Disembarking
Back on land at 14:00 or 19:00 depending on the slot. The day is ahead of you, or the evening starts well.
Meeting point: the location varies with the wind and conditions of the day. Carlos confirms it 2–3 days in advance — you can also ask on the same day.

Frequently asked questions about the Half Day sailing trip
Yes. The CALIU carries certified safety equipment for adults and children. Children under 50 kg wear it throughout the sail — it’s required for safety and we always apply it. When you book, let us know the children’s weight so we can have the right size on board.
No. The afternoon slot returns to land at 19:00, well before sunset. If you want to experience sundown at sea, you have two options: the Sunset sailing (3 hours) or the Afternoon + sunset, which includes activities and ends at sundown.
The Half Day starts from €370 for the whole boat for groups of 1–2 people in spring. In peak season it ranges from €410 to €600 depending on the number of passengers. The price is always for the whole boat — never per person.
It includes a professional skipper, fuel, nautical insurance, certified safety equipment for adults and children, snorkelling kit, paddle surf board, drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks) and a Mediterranean apéritif. Main meal and personal towels are not included.
Sunscreen, a cap, sunglasses and a personal towel. If you’d like to eat on board, you can bring your own food or ask us in advance. Drinks and the Mediterranean apéritif are included.
It depends on wind and sea conditions. Espalmador and Illetes are common zones when sailing allows, but we never guarantee a specific route — we adapt to the state of the sea. What is certain: 4 hours is plenty for swimming in crystal-clear water, snorkelling and enjoying the sailboat.
